Kate's first attempt at eating solid food went pretty well even though we're not sure how much actually ended up in her stomach. It was fun!


Although it may not look like it, by day three she was getting the hang of this eating with a spoon thing.

I took Kate to visit her cousin this past Tuesday. We had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs!

Swimming Again

We tried swimming again. This time with friend Drew. You can just imagine what Drew must be thinking about Kate's unhappiness.

Father's Day

The Costa family had a fun filled Father's Day complete with a trip to Goodberry's (our favorite place for ice cream). After church and Kate's nap we headed to Shelley Lake for a picnic and accidentally went on a two mile walk! Kate then had her first (outside of the womb) experience at Goodberry's. I think Jeff enjoyed his first Father's Day as a Dad.

Introducing... Scarlett Brook Jenkins

Scarlett's Birthday

We are the proud uncle, aunt, and cousin of Scarlett Brook Jenkins. She was born today at 2:01pm weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. and is 19.5 inches long (the same length as Kate was when she was born)! Scarlett is beautiful-baby and mom are doing great. Here is a picture of Kate watching her cousin in the nursery.

Cousin Scarlett Update

Scarlett will be here on Friday! My sister Jennifer is being induced tomorrow morning. I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

Watching the Game

This past Saturday, Jeff, Kate, and I helped my sister and brother-in-law move into their beautiful new house. When we got home, I left Kate with Jeff so I could take a shower and this is what I found when I came downstairs. Both of them intently watching the US national team take on Trinidad and Tobago in the Gold Cup (soccer for those of you who don't know). They look so much alike in this picture. My friend Heather has the cutest picture on her blog of her son watching the game too. Speaking of Heather and her son Drew, they came over to visit today. This was Kate's second play date with Drew this week. They each enjoy just staring at each other!
Gina the Great also came to visit this past weekend, we had a great visit with her and look forward to seeing her when we visit New York in July.

Swimming...or Not!

Our community pool opened two weeks ago and we've taken Kate three times. While we have enjoyed the short walk to and from the pool, actually getting into the pool has been an experience in itself. This is what Kate thought of getting anything more than her feet wet:

She was not a fan-she definitley perfers her warm bath water. She did better the third time where she stopped crying twice for a few minutes before starting back up again. We'll be going back tomorrow to try again! Don't worry as soon as we get home she forgets the harrowing experience her parents have put her through.

Kate is Four Months Old!

Fiestas

The Costa family had a big weekend of get togethers and parties. It kicked off on Friday when I had several dear friends over for lunch. Can you believe I have been friends with these ladies since elementary school?! (and now we have children!) We had a great visit and Kate very much liked seeing these "big kids" play. Disclaimer here-no one in this picture is holding her own child- which is the great thing about having friends like these. On Saturday we had many of our neighbors over for a cookout and had such a good time that we even stayed outside on the patio while it was sprinkling and drizzling (don't worry Grandma's, Kate was asleep by then). On Sunday, Jennifer and Scarlett had their final shower-now all we have to do is wait for her big arrival! Here is our princess in her party dress...
