Easter Dress
Kate was finally able to wear her Easter dress to church this Sunday-three weeks late. The weather has been so cool on weekends the past few weeks, she hasn't been able to wear it. Since we went to early church, she still needed a onesie underneath it for warmth. Here she is all dressed up!

Relay for Life
Jeff, Kate, and I participated in the Garner area Relay for Life this weekend. Since cancer has affected our family in so many ways, supporting a cause to find a cure is close to our hearts. Kate did a great job carrying the Garner High School baton around the track (as you can see, she slept the whole time). I enjoyed seeing fellow teachers I had not seen in a while and Jeff and I both enjoyed listening to music and watching older kids play fun games.

Weekend Fun
Kate had much fun this past weekend-going to her first soccer game, taking the dogs swimming and building her first garden! The weather has been beautiful this week in NC-so the Costa family has taken advantage of it. Unfortunately, I forgot the camera when we went to Jeff's game, but here she is in her first pair of jeans waiting for mom to get ready.
Saturday, we took the dogs down to the canoe launch close to our house so they could swim. However, the water was really high and the current was very strong, so we just let Precious and Max walk by the river off leash-but they managed to find some flooded areas to cool off.
Here Jeff is trying not to get pulled into the river-
Kate enjoyed looking the trees and watching the dogs run around.
Jeff and Nana also working hard in our yard on Sunday. Nana and Kate have started a garden complete with tomatoes, squash, peppers, and cucumbers. Of course, Kate let Dad and Nana do all the work-she was just happy to pose for the pictures. Next year, she'll be playing in the dirt with them. Who knows what adventures we'll be up to this weekend! Stay tuned to find out...

Garden Tub
Jeff and Kate went for a dip in our big bathtub-Kate's fist experience in our garden tub. It is more like a big pool for her! Luckily Jeff was there to hold her. She enjoyed taking a swim with Dad and having her bath all at the same time. Looks like Jeff had fun too!

Kate Found Her Thumb!
As the title indicates, Kate has found her thumb. She's been working on it for about a week and has finally mastered it without getting any help from me, although it sometimes takes a few tries. As you can see from these pictures, she hasn't quite figured out what to do with her other fingers. Jeff and I are hopeful that this will help soothe her when she wakes up in the middle of the night or on a long car ride, we'll see if it becomes the substitute pacifier...here's to hoping.

Great Grandma Mary and Tea Time
Great Grandma was here visiting from New York this past week. She helped to babysit Kate and took her to her first tea. Kate loved spending time with her! We went to the new Umstead Hotel in Cary on the SAS campus for their afternoon tea. It was pretty fancy and Kate did a great job sleeping through the whole thing. Daddy was even able to join us before his soccer game. As Jeff said-he was the only man in the room not playing the harp-so thanks for joining us! We were also able to celebrate Easter with Nana this Sunday since she was in Indianapolis with Uncle David during Easter. Thanks for the fun book-Kate is delighted with it.
Shower for Scarlett
I think Kate has been to more parties in her two months of life than I have all year. This weekend we gave Aunt Jennifer and Scarlett a baby shower. Kate can't wait for her cousin to get here! Kate enjoyed watching Jennifer open her gifts and looking at all of Scarlett's new clothes.
Kate let Uncle Dan practice for Scarlett's arrival by hanging out with him for a few minutes. She took it easy on him and they both enjoyed getting to know each other better. They both look so happy!

Two Month Check
Over Easter weekend, Kate turned two months old and had a doctor's visit on Tuesday where she received 4 vaccinations. She did great, giving big smiles and coos to the nurses and doctor. She didn't cry too much after the shots and seemed to have no side effects. We are quite proud of her. She now weighs 10 lbs, 3.5 oz and is a little over 21.5 inches long.

Happy Easter!
Jeff, Kate and I went to my parents' church and house for Easter Sunday. We had a wonderful time. We put Kate in the nursery for the first time-she did great! Kate seemed excited about her bunny and Little Mermaid DVD.
Kate also participated in her first Easter egg hunt at my parents house. She mostly spent the time in her Grandma's arms, while Jeff and I had all the fun!
Dad did all the egg hunting for Kate and she, in turn, shared all of her chocolates with him.
Kate was pretty tired from all the day's activities, which was just fine with us. Something tells me next Easter will be very different.

Spring Break
Jeff has been home this week on spring break, so he has had lots of time to work in the yard-he went on a huge shopping spree for trees, bushes, and mulch-and time to play with Kate!
Our neighbors' daughter, Natalie, spent Monday and Tuesday with us while her parents were at work (Natalie had spring break from school too). Kate had fun playing with her friend. Here Natalie is teaching Kate her ABC's. Kate even repeated some of the sounds back to Natalie-which made Natalie really happy. Maybe she's a future teacher in the making and shows that Kate is one smart girl!
